The history of the Covenant Faith Church of God began with the founding of the first church in 1935 at 47th and South Parkway on the second floor. That same year the congregation moved to 366 East 46th Street, and later to 214 East 50th Street; where Elder Walter W. Naylor became the first pastor. 

In 1939 the church was located at 1122 West 61st Street (May Street Church); Elder Patrick Heard was pastor (1937-1943), followed by Elder Eugene C. Johnson (1944-1953), followed by Dr. Marcus H. Morgan (1953-1995), in 1970, the church moved to 10555 South Emerald Avenue where it was renamed Emerald Avenue Church of God. 

Upon Pastor Morgan’s retirement after 42 years of faithful service Dr. Rev. E. Raymond Chin (1995-2019) was elected our next pastor and in 2001 our church moved to 10505 South Halsted Street, which fulfilled the vision of Pastor Morgan, and our church’s name was changed to its present name Covenant Faith Church of God (CFCOG).  In 2019 Pastor Chin retired after 23 years of faithful service. Rev. Lenell Jackson served as Interim Pastor.

In 2022, Rev. J. Tim Quainoo was installed and currently serves along with his wife, Jillian Quainoo, as Senior Pastor of Covenant Faith Church of God.
